I tried an amazing green juice blend this week and I want to share the simple recipe with you. If you are a regular juicer you can add this to your rotation, if you have a juicer but it needs to be dusted off you might want to bring it out for this one! If you don’t have a juicer find your nearest juice bar and see if they can make this combo for you. It’s packed with green goodness and some sweet fruit to mellow out the “green” taste for those of you who can’t stomach it. I tried it out on my ladies this weekend, everyone loved it and had seconds. Juicing is good for every part of your body from digestion to skin to boosting your immune system.
Yummy Green Juice Blend
Wash, chop and juice the following:
- Kale – 1 large head
- celery- 1 large heart
- parsley – handful
- pineapple – 1/2 full pineaple
- apple – 2
Why it does your body good:
Kale is a green veggie that is packed with beta carotene, vitamin C, vitamin K and rich in calcium. It is also said to be a cancer fighter that helps boost DNA repair in damaged cells via a chemical called indole 3-carbinol. Apples are full of vitamins, high in fibre and may help reduce cholesterol. Celery provides fiber and vitamin C. Pineapple contains bromelain which is fantastic for helping digestion and works to neutralize foods so they are not too acidic. So mix them all together and you have filled your belly with a fruit and veggie superhero!
No juicer at home? If you live in Toronto some of my fave juice bars are:
If you have any great juice combos that you swear by I’d love to hear from you.
Now go out there and make every cell in your body happy with this drink. Yay!
